KULTŪRŲ RITMU 2024

19/06/2024

On the Eve of World Refugee Day, June 19 at 4:30 PM, we invite you to a performance and discussion on the topic of migration

  • Performance “El Dorado” (.XYZ Collective)

The performance “El Dorado” aims to highlight the refugee crisis, the challenges faced by refugees, and the bureaucratic and cultural barriers they encounter. Participants will simulate the refugee journey – from document checks to psychological pressure and uncertainty. This artistic endeavour seeks to reveal the experiences of refugees, fostering empathy and understanding within society.

.XYZ Collective, composed of Barbora Matonytė, Denisas Kolomyckis, and Liudvikas Kesminas, was founded out of a desire to create an alternative to mainstream galleries and institutions. It also serves as a platform for experimentation and showcasing their work, challenging established art norms and expanding conventional exhibition and thematic boundaries.

  • Discussion “Migration Through the Eyes of Young Creators: Challenges and Opportunities”

The discussion will invite young creators who have moved to Lithuania to share their experiences and the creative and other challenges they face in their daily lives.

    Participants:

    • Kadhim Al-Farttoosi (Iraq). A musician from Iraq, trying to build his musical career slowly and gradually with the available resources. He aims to bring an -relatively- unrecognized instrument (Oud) as well as a genre of music (Arabic, Turkish and north African) into Lithuania and Europe in the wider picture.
    • Katya Kononenko (Ukraine). Abstract painter and graphic artist, who likes bright colors and meanings.
    • Yauhen Ihnatsyeu (Belarus). Podcast creator, who covers Eurovision, Belarusian diaspora and relationships, and amateur musician.
