The event of the new music concert series “PLAYGROUND”.
In the project INSTRUMENTAL, the five performers of the contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis collaborate with sound artist Simonas Nekrošius, who creates new musical instruments – autonomous objects with their own sonic and physical identities – especially for this installation.
Through these objects, the performers generate distinctive sounds and explore unexpected modes of technical operation. Each instrument becomes a field of individual expression, enabling the performer to investigate alternative sound types, non-standard musical interactions, gestures, and physical approaches to playing. Here, the performer acts as a creator-researcher, forming a personal relationship with a unique sonic object made specifically for them.
This installation is neither a composed piece nor an improvisation in the traditional sense – rather, it is an open sonic situation, where form and content continuously shift in response to the interaction between body, material, and space.
