Heritage Days at the Sapieha Palace

From 25 to 27 September, the Sapieha Palace will host Heritage Days, inviting visitors to explore the palace’s history and the latest discoveries made by researchers. These findings will be revealed in many different ways – from art history to biotechnology, from the stroke of a paintbrush to the most advanced laboratory research.

The Sapieha Palace – a late 17th-century suburban summer residence – contains within its walls both reconstructions from later historical periods and much earlier layers: the Renaissance architecture of the early 17th-century palace, about which we learn more each year. Gradually, layer by layer, this architectural heritage is uncovered through research and restoration, carried out not only by heritage conservation specialists and fresco restorers, but also by experts in digital technologies.

These discoveries and the secrets of the palace will be brought to life for visitors at the end of September. During Heritage Days, we will present the most important and recent research findings, offering a contemporary perspective on heritage and history. Open lectures, tours, and educational activities will bring together different perspectives on exploring heritage – those of restorers, artists, and scholars in genetics and biology. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the phenomenology of architecture and observe the meticulous daily work of a restorer up close.

The programme will culminate with an early music concert – the vocal ensemble Aidija will perform 16th–20th century works in French in the programme “Chançon” | A Journey Through French Polyphonic Song.

All events will take place at the Sapieha Palace in Vilnius, 13 L. Sapiegos g.

The programme includes both free and ticketed events. The full schedule will be announced at the beginning of September – stay tuned!
