Editorial warmly invites you to a film screening and discussion at Sapieha Palace, accompanying Familiar Stranger, currently on view at Editorial project space. Featuring works by Zuza Banasińska, Claire Hentschker, Valentin Noujaïm and Igor Zelić, the programme extends the exhibition’s exploration of memory as an unstable, continually rewritten process, tracing the gaps between what is remembered, recorded and imagined.
In the screening, propagandistic film archives are reworked into a matriarchal family mythology, while corporate interiors become sites of suspicion and imagined revolt. A nocturnal landscape takes shape through the choreography of light, and a destroyed rollercoaster returns as a fragmented digital reconstruction assembled from online footage. Moving between archival montage, fiction and experiments in perception, the works question the authority of images: their capacity to preserve experience, conceal its conditions or give it another form. Familiar spaces and inherited narratives become strange, opening onto histories and experiences that resist straightforward representation.
The screening will be followed by a short conversation with Milda Januševičiūtė and Zuza Banasińska.
